Cybercrooks Stalk Small Businesses that Bank Online
The American Bankers Association and the FBI are advising small and mid-size businesses that conduct financial transactions over the Internet to dedicate a separate PC used exclusively for online banking. Why? Cybercriminals launched multiple “banking Trojans” — malicious programs that enable them to surreptitiously access and manipulate online banking accounts. Internet-enabled transactions and wire transfer fraud have become such as issue that FBI has gone public about the scale of the attacks to bring attention to the problem. The FBI, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Federal Reserve have all issued warnings in the past two months.

Do-it-yourself trading site collective2.com sent an “urgent” email on December 30 notifying users that the company’s computer database had been breached. information accessed by the hacker included names, email addresses, passwords and credit card information.

Phishers have Switched Focus to Amex, Paypal, Visa, eBay
Phishing messages have been targeting English-speaking computer users who are using the services of Amex, Paypal, Visa, and eBay. Phishers have switched their focus to institutions that could bring them the most profit in the shortest timeframe.
